Promote your best deals in AdWords with the new promotion extensions.
People are always looking for deals, wether it’s discounts on holidays, gifts or cheap flights.
Fact: 7 out of 10 internet users are searching or sales or discounts before visiting a store. To attract these kind of customers, Google Adwords recently introduced “Promotion Extensions” in the new AdWords interface.

With these promotion extensions, you can easily update your ads without creating new ads (and losing history and quality scores). This also allows you to use your add for USP’s and CTA’s because you don’t need your ad to reflect the promotions.
If you’re a shoe retailer, you can for example use a promo-code with 30% discount for Black Friday. In total, there are 12 events to choose from but you don’t have to choose an event per sé.
You can also schedule the promotion extensions, so you can plan your whole year with all of the promotions and they will be enabled and paused on the right moment.
To add a promotion extension to your campaign you have to follow the next steps:
- Go to a campaign
- Go to “ads & extensions” in the 2nd column.
- Go to the tab “Extensions”.
- Click on the filter “extension type” and select “promotion extensions”.
- Then click on the blue “+”.
